The Senior Hardware Electrical Engineer will report to the Senior Manager of Engineering and be responsible for taking ownership and building defined features, investigate and fix complex and diverse issues, and communicate progress while identifying blocking issues. The Senior Hardware Electrical Engineer will apply their extensive technical expertise and analysis to all assigned projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of action items and continuously contribute to the development of new technologies and practices within the team.

    
Specific Responsibilities    
  • Own and be accountable for the design, development, and analysis of major systems
  • Spend most of the time developing electrical circuits and solutions and efficiently producing elegant, clean schematics without unnecessary complication or abstraction
  • Develop detailed electrical schematic drawings using company core standards
  • Complete electrical designs that are thoroughly tested with very few bugs and is supported by design reviews
  • Beginning to lead feature or sub-system design reviews and be recognized as the go-to developer for that system & sub assembly
  • Participate in architecture discussions, propose, and discuss solutions to system and product changes that are directly related to their area of focus
  • Develop or direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication

Required Qualifications    

  • 5+ year’s experience contributing to the design and testing of electronic circuits, including embedded IC circuits, Multiple CPU architecture experience, analog and digital expertise
  • Knowledge of complex CPU architectures, various communications protocols such as I2C, I2S, USB, UART, SPI, SDIO, etc.
  • Experience using Altium CAD tool, circuit simulation tools, schematic capture
  • Experience contributing to the design and release of products that meet US and international compliance and safety regulations with a good understanding of conducted and radiated emissions and safety standards

Preferred Qualifications    

  • Experience designing products with compliance requirements in mind. 
  • Experience simulating circuits using SPICE simulators.
  • Experience designing and installing home automation and smart home devices.
  • Experience designing and evaluating A/C to D/C power supply systems.
  • FPGA, ASIC and DSP design experience are a plus.
